Guide for exchange students

TOP REASONS TO STUDY IN CÓRDOBA

Córdoba, Argentina’s second largest city is bursting with life. Home to seven major universities, Córdoba has a young population that ensures an excellent nightlife and a vibrant cultural scene. It also boasts a fascinating history, owing its architectural and cultural heritage to the Jesuits.

The rolling hill country outside of town is dotted with places that could grab your attention for a day or a month; including five Jesuit missions that each makes for an easy day trip. Adventure buffs head to the hills for stellar paragliding and trekking in a couple of national parks nearby. The hippie towns of San Marcos Sierras and Capilla del Monte give a glimpse into Argentina's alternative lifestyles. Further southwest, the Valle de Conlara and the Sierras Puntanas offer a chance to get away from the crowds and into the heart of the countryside.

ACCOMMODATION

Since the University does not have its own dormitories or residences for exchange students, we provide you with a housing database from which you can choose where you would like to live during your stay in Córdoba.

These lodging options are available at different prices, depending on many factors such as: the distance from city center, the housing facilities, the type of rooms (single or shared), and so forth.

Students are expected to choose accommodation accordingly, taking into account their own preferences. They take full responsibility of the place in which they will be living at, and sign a rental contract with their landlords. They contact the host family or residence directly by e-mail or phone, and make their own reservations. Once they have done so, they have to send their accommodation details to the following e-mail address: [email protected] (at least one month prior the official arrival date).

Universidad Católica de Córdoba does not assume any civil, criminal, and administrative responsibility as well as any other responsibility related to lodging. The UCC will not be liable for any claim or loss that any of the parties may incur.

STUDENT VISA

Due to new immigration regulations in Argentina, students may enter our country as tourists (only with their passport) and change their status to student once in Cordoba. Consequently, it is not necessary to get a visa in their home country. Once in Córdoba, we will explain the corresponding procedure.

The additional documents required to process the visa depends on the home country and the exchange period, as indicated below:

Natives of MERCOSUR member countries and their ASSOCIATED STATES, and
Natives of EXTRAMERCOSUR countries that do NOT require visas to enter as tourists, whose period of exchange is more than 6 (six) months, must bring a FEDERAL or NATIONAL certificate of no criminal records issued in their home country or in the countries where they have resided for the last three (3) years, legalized by the respective Argentine consular representation, or with the Hague Apostille stamp. In the event that the country of origin does not extend this type of certificate according to its local legislation, it must be attached a consular proof of this fact.

The certificate of criminal record must be translated in Cordoba by an official public translator, immediately after the arrival.

For native students from EXTRAMERCOSUR countries that require VISA to enter as tourists, the procedure will be initiated by the UCC in Argentina and the foreign student must request the visa to the respective Argentine Consulate, fulfilling the established requirements for that purpose.

Free movers

Students from universities that do not have an agreement with the UCC can apply as free mover students, paying the corresponding tuition and academic fees. They must bring the following additional documents:

FEDERAL or NATIONAL certificate of no criminal records issued in their home country or in the countries where they have resided for the last FIVE (5) years, legalized by the respective Argentine consular representation, or with The Hague Apostille stamp.
Diploma and official transcript of records of the Secondary School, with the Hague Apostille stamp.

In addition to the above documentation, students born in EXTRAMERCOSUR countries that do not require a visa to enter as tourists must bring:

Birth certificate duly legalized by the respective Argentine consular representation, or with The Hague Apostille stamp.
